![]() Given tourism has been so low of late, you would think they would be more helpful to encourage return visits. Could have been so much better with a little admin and effort on KWS’s part. There were no maps able to be bought at the arrivals ticket booth so you had no idea where you were heading around the park (thank goodness for the MapsMe app!)Īll in all, a bit disappointing. Where the trees blocked the road in the north, there were no signs.Ĥ. The only sign we saw about lack of access to Main Gate was 8km away from it on the West side of the lake. neither the KWS lady who sold us the tickets from one window of the ticket booth, or then the other KWS lady who took those tickets off us at the car and then went back to a different window to register them (a window right next door to the lady who sold them to us - efficiency at its best!?), mentioned any issues about routes in the park.ģ. ![]() there was no information at the arrival gate where you buy tickets about roads or access being limited in the park at any point.Ģ. Several points of failure relating to the Park’s admin ġ. From that position, it then took us about an hour driving non-stop (and quite quickly) to get back around the lake (anti clockwise) to Lanet Gate. We got 8km away from the gate to be met with a sign saying ‘no through route to Main Gate’ (the first sign mentioning anything about it all day!). ![]() We found a couple of pretty view points and were glad we had a 4x4 car, it would have been tricky in places if not.Īfter that, we continued the route clockwise heading towards Main Gate to exit. Some data on other rift valley lakes with similar chemical and biological conditions are included, since they are inhabited by flamingos as well. After that, we continued to the view points on the cliff on the west of the lake. It’s small and muddy and not particularly pretty. We then drove to the waterfall in the very south of the park - it was ok but I wouldn’t make the effort to head there again. You can get out here and walk nearer to get photos (stay aware of other animals nearby!) It’s sad to see that the lake has swollen so much and killed quite a few areas of woodland in the process though. We found flamingos and pelicans at the south side of the lake, and a couple of KWS wardens there keeping an eye on things. The journey inside the park itself was good. So, we then headed clockwise around the lake with the intent that we would exit from Main Gate in the NW after our visit. The lake's hypersaline water can strip away human skin, and breeds algae toxic to. We initially drove from Lanet gate in the NE anticlockwise and, after about 5km, found that the road was blocked off at about the 12 o’clock position of the lake (it looked like it had been purposefully blocked by trees for quite sometime to prevent people using the road). Visit Lake Natron in Tanzania and you'll find 75 of the world's 3.2 million lesser flamingos. Nowhere does anyone tell you that, once in the park you can’t get to Main Gate from either East or West directions. There are 3 gates you can theoretically use to get into/out of the park (Main Gate on the NW side, Lanet Gate on the NE, and Nderit Gate in the SE). We visited Lake Nakuru National Park for a day trip using our own car.

![]() ![]() Now after almost twenty years since its conception and eighteen years in distribution, LEGO Digital Designer will retire and pass the mantle to BrickLink Studio as the officially supported and maintained 3D building application. It has played a prominent role in various offerings, from LEGO Factory, LEGO Design By ME, LEGO video games and movies. LDD pioneered real-time rendering of LEGO bricks, virtual brick connectivity, and the compact LEGO Exchange file format (LXF) which made LEGO models built in LDD light and portable. LEGO Digital Designer was released in 2004 as the LEGO Group’s 3D building tool. The LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) website will close on January 31st, after which time LDD will no longer be available for download. While downloaded versions of the LDD application will continue to work, people are encouraged to download BrickLink Studio, import their LDD files, and use Studio for 3D LEGO building files, and use Studio for 3D LEGO building. The LEGO Digital Designer website will shut down at the end of January.īrickLink Studio welcomes LEGO Digital Designer users.īillund, Denmark – January 12th, 2022: Today, the LEGO Group announces that BrickLink Studio will replace LEGO Digital Designer as the official virtual LEGO building software going forward. Indeed, Studio is now welcoming new users migrating over from LDD, in preparation for its shutdown:Īt the end of January, there will be a special episode of the podcast ‘Bits N’Bricks’ celebrating the legacy of LDD and the Origins of Studio. Whil historically, a version of LDD has been used in-house, I would think that many new designers will have cut their teeth on Studio, prior to joining the company Indeed while the LDD page will be closed from 31st January, the news that it is no longer supported is now apparent: On the other hand, LEGO Digital designer has been getting fewer and fewer updates with new elements over recent years. Studio has been on the rise over the last few years, particularly with the rise of interest in LEGO building during the pandemic, its integration with BrickLink and the Bricklink Designers Program. It feels a bit like The LEGO Group is tidying up the house in preparation for its 90th Birthday later this year: Last night we heard about the merging of Bricks and Pieces into Pick a Brick, and this was followed hours with news that LEGO® Digital Designer – a stalwart of many fans of digital building – is going to have support discontinued, to be replaced by ongoing development of LEGO BrickLink Studio, as the group’s officially supported digital building application. ![]() Bitwarden - More functional free plan (unlimited passwords on unlimited devices). I wanted to see how their features, security, and plans compare. With this in mind, I compared LastPass with other top password managers. While LastPass’s 256-bit AES encryption should ensure customers’ vaults are safe (a hacker would need the account’s master password to access it), it’s understandable that some users might prefer an alternative password manager that hasn’t ever been hacked. What’s more, in December 2022, LastPass announced it had suffered a major data breach where customer data was exposed. Because of this change, a lot of our readers are curious - should they upgrade to LastPass Premium or just switch to another password manager? Instead of being able to access LastPass on all devices, free users now have to choose whether they want to use LastPass only on mobile (Android/iOS phones, tablets, and smart watches) or only on desktops (PCs, Macs, and Windows tablets). LastPass recently made a pretty radical change to its free plan. Try the best LastPass alternative now (1Password).It’s also easier to use and offers more comprehensive customer support. □ 1Password - Better security features, better extras, and a better family plan.Short on time? Please return to The Buffet queue to pay, your wait time is approximately 10 minutes.Encore Boston Harbor has picked two North End restaurant legends—Frank DePasquale and Revere native Nick Varano—to operate a 135-seat, 5,200-square-foot Italian restaurant at the five-star, $2.5 billion Encore Boston Harbor Resort. I could go outside for a scenic walk along the Mystic, but I spot a “Game of Thrones” slot machine, so no.įinally I get a text: “A bounty of scrumptious choices is seconds away. A man is demanding of the hostess, “Why! There are so many empty tables!” (Two recent trends that haven’t really hit casinos yet: low-alcohol cocktails and white men checking their privilege.) Encore’s is helpfully called The Buffet ($38.99), and there’s a 2½-hour wait to get in. There’s the nightclub Memoire, but the R3hab show is sold out.īut I think it’s not really a casino visit if you don’t hit the buffet. Also on the menu: lobster tempura, wagyu beef gyoza, a host of other robata items and raw fish dishes, maki and nigiri sushi, larger plates like miso cod and Singapore street noodles, luxurious steaks, and shareable dishes including Japanese fried chicken and whole roast fish. The raw scallops are served with apple and shiso, cool and refreshing. The wings arrive on a little clay table grill filled with smoldering Japanese charcoal, infusing them with smoky flavor and keeping them hot. Before I know it, I’m sharing wings and scallop ceviche with a group that is, alas, too small for us to order the Sir Inks A Lot, a citrus-y potion of vodka, cassis, and lemongrass that serves 10 or more. ![]() It seems the possibility of losing our collective shirt really brings us together. Mystique is filled with thumping music there’s a lounge, and a bar area, and a dining room. The hospitality group is also responsible for several Foxwoods restaurants - Shrine, Red Lantern - so it comes to Encore with plenty of casino experience. The Asian-inspired restaurant Mystique is run by Big Night Entertainment, another local concern, behind Empire, the Scorpion Bar, and more. It wouldn’t take much money for him to open his own bar in Florence. “Don’t forget me if you win big,” a server calls after some departing women.
